Uppada Jamdani Sarees (GI No. 122)

The Uppada Jamdani style of weaving originated about 300 years back in Andhra Pradesh. The unique and intrinsic designs which are woven in the fabric is specialty to  Uppada style of weaving.  The craftsmanship of the weavers blends designs into weave preferably to bring perfect blend of colour & motifs. The Uppada Saree is known for bright contrast pallu. The weavers weave in such a way that the design is also clearly seen, and distinct and distinguishable on reverse side of the cloth also. The one distinct characteristics of the product is that natural rice and maize stored solutions are directly applied to warps while the weaving is in progress called loom sizing strengthening yarn   during weaving and prevent breaking besides bringing shiner appearance.
