Pochampally Ikat (GI No. 4)

Pochampally, a small town in Nalgonda district of Telangana is famous for Ikat weaving. The weavers use traditional technique of Ikat to create patterns on yarn through an audacious process of resisting segments of yarn through tying. The warp, weft or both are tie-dyed before weaving to create beautiful patterns and designs on products. Pochampally Ikat uses double Ikat and boasts of transferring intricate design onto fabric with nothing short of perfection. One of the most telling signs of the Pochampally sarees and other products is the intricate geometric design that spreads all over the fabric giving it a very captivating effect.

Pochampally products are hand crafted to perfection by skilled artisans who are endowed with unique skills to weave intricate designs. The weavers are producing different products like Sarees, dress materials, home furnishings by using silk, cotton yarn and zari.  The artistic skill of weavers has always attracted attention of the people across the country and abroad
