The hand woven silk Sarees of Maharashtra originated in Paithan of Aurangabad and Yeola of Nashik districts has distinctive style of its own with bold patterns and traditional motifs conveying socio - cultural ethos of the state. The design framework is linear and exquisite, enameled with flowers, birds especially peacocks and parrots woven in zari. The designs and motifs woven in the Sarees like peacock, lotus, mango and other designs are believed to have been borrowed from the rock- cut caves of Ajanta and Ellora. The weavers use silk yarn and zari with various specifications to produce different products like saree, Ladies Dress Material, home furnishings, etc.
