Jamnagari Bandhani (GI No. 221)

The Bandhani is an ancient, tie and dye technique, which is widely used in the state of   Gujarat. It is a traditional resist dyeing technique that uses impermeable threads for tying so as to create beautiful fine, circular patterns on fabrics. The fabric is tied in intricate patterns with the help of nails, beads or grain, which prevents colour from entering into tied areas during dyeing. The technique has been so perfected that most intricate patterns emerge in discharge, with vibrant backgrounds. The product and manufacturing process of bandhani products of Jamnagar are unique with intricate designs and tiny dots reflecting the socio-cultural ethos of the region.
