Guledgudd Khana (GI No. 210)

It is believed that the Khana industry of Gulledgud started in 8th century AD during the role of Chalunkya. The small and intricate designs with beautiful motifs depicts socio-cultural ethos and ecology is one of the specialty of the product. The Khana (Choli or Blouse) cloth manufactured at Guledgudd of Karnataka is very famous for its designs and in great demand. The blouses made out of Guledgudd Khana compliments Ilkal Sarees as this combination is widely used   in the northern part of Karnataka but Marathawada and Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra. The Ilkal Sarees and Guledgudd Khana in their best combinations are used extensively in urban and rural parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Most of designs of the Guledgudd Khana are replicates of (i) Suryanarayana, the face of Sun God, (ii) Siddeswar Mukuta, face of Siddeswar God, (iii) Theru, the Chariot, (iv) Ane Hejje, the footsteps of elephant, (v) Tulsi Pan, the Tulsi leaf, (vi) Sooji Mallige, a fragrance giving flower etc.
